Many students desire to take specific science courses for pre-professional program prerequisites. All 300-400 level science courses are restricted to science majors only in Spring and Fall semesters.

The following majors are able to register without restrictions: Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Neuroscience, and Physics.

All other students, including science minors, IHS majors, and students who have recently declared any of the above listed majors, are restricted from registering for all 300-400 level BIOS courses. Departmental approval is required. Students may request approval for these courses (except BIOS 350) beginning on April 15, 2021, which is the start of Continuing Registration. Students should not contact advisors prior to this date as requests will go unanswered. See the Biological Sciences website for specific registration instructions.

NOTE: Please contact the Chemistry department to register for BIOS/CHEM 452.

Send an email from your UIC email account. Include your name, UIN, and the course for which you need approval with all correspondence.
