Appointments
Students are encouraged to meet with LAS pre-health advisors to assist in planning and decision making toward their health profession interest areas and educational goals. We find that students who begin to utilize pre-health advising services early in their academic career at UIC feel more confident in their pre-professional goals.
All students in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences are assigned a general academic advisor who will work with you over the course of your fours years. Like your major advisor, pre-health advisors are here to supplement and enhance your advising experience. In the first-year, students are encouraged to attend workshops and events, and utilize webinars and on-demand resources through the UIC Pre-Health Blackboard page. Pre-health students interested in pre-nursing or pre-pharmacy are encouraged to make a pre-health advising appointment as early as their first year at UIC. All other pre-health students are encouraged to begin one-on-one appointments with a pre-health advisor in the sophomore year - ideally after at least one semester of general chemistry has been completed.

First-year students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are required to meet with an academic advisor during orientation prior to scheduling courses for their first year. This is a great time to declare an educational goal to ensure that you receive information about pre-health fields, including events and opportunities.
Students interested pre-nursing or pre-pharmacy may make an appointment with a pre-health advisor in their first year. As these are fields that can lead to transferring from LAS to another college at UIC, connecting with a pre-health advisor early can help ensure you have the best information for a timely graduation.
LAS sophomore, junior and senior pre-health students interested in graduate pre-health fields may request an individual appointment with a pre-health advisor. Students are encouraged to schedule one-on-one appointments with a pre-health advisor early in their academic career at UIC.
To schedule an appointment with a pre-health advisor (instructions with screenshots are available), please log into your my.uic.edu portal and then log into iAdvise and go to My Success Network. Search for LAS Pre-Health Advising and click on the “person”. Once in the profile, you should see all of the Pre-Health appointment topics in the left side Services bar. Click on the one that you are looking for to be taken to that Service Page. From there you can select Schedule Appointment to see all available appointment options or click on a specific advisor to see their open appointments. If you click on a specific advisor and no appointments are available, they do not have any open options; please hit the back button to return to the Services Page and select Schedule Appointment. LAS Pre-Health Advisors open new appointment spots for two weeks in the future every Friday afternoon.
